Full error name: “Generic error“

Cause

There are a few reasons why you might receive this error from Etsy:

  • You tried to push an “Active” products without accepting to pay Etsy fees.
  • You have special characters in your product card or description. Some quotation marks, for instance, generate an error from Etsy, despite all systems are now using UTF-8 sets.

Solution

Here are a couple of things to try to fix this error:

  1. Make sure everything is set between you and Etsy, so that you can pay their fees. 
  2. Remove special characters from your listings and retry the publication.
