Full error name: “The price for this item cannot be updated since it is a part of a sale”
Cause
This error is returned by eBay, not by Nembol. It appears when Nembol tries to update the price of an eBay listing that is currently part of an active markdown sale — a “Sale event + markdown” created in eBay’s backend (My eBay → Marketing → Discounts).
While a listing is enrolled in a running sale, eBay locks its price. The sale needs a fixed original price in order to calculate and show the discount, so eBay blocks any price revision on that item for the duration of the sale. When Nembol sends the price update to eBay — for example after you edit the price in Nembol, apply a pricing rule, or push an update to the channel — eBay rejects it and returns this error, and the new price is not applied on eBay.
Solution
To change the price, the listing must first be removed from the active sale. On eBay:
- Go to Seller Hub → Marketing → Discounts.
- Open the active Discount event that includes the item.
- Either remove the listing from that sale, or end the sale if you no longer need it. You can also simply wait for the sale to reach its end date.
- Allow eBay a few minutes to process the change.
Then, back in Nembol:
- Open the Products tab, select the affected product(s), and click Retry or Update to push the new price to eBay.
Good to know
- eBay normally drops an item from a discount as soon as its price is revised.
- You can run Promotions with Nembol, this will guide you a more centralized view on all your multichannel sales.
